Incorporated Krohm International Ltd. in Michigan and began selling complete typographical systems based on off-the-shelf Texas Instruments 990 mini-computers. Our competitors had made custom modifications to their mini-computer systems so that they could not be utilized for any other purpose other than typography, and could not be supported by any other firm. We thought that customers would not like being anchored that way.

KI developed a Compugraphic 8600 output module for the TI990 system, which allowed us to sell and install a system at Industry Media, now Edgell Plastics Publications (Denver, Colorado); Advanced Information Systems (Waco, Texas); Jana, Inc. (San Antonio, Texas); and at Press Publications (White Bear Lake, Minnesota).
